Ron Bowman

I entered the Naval Academy from Farmington, New Mexico via NAPS as the first graduate from my High School to attend a military academy.  I wrestled while at Navy and graduated closer to Anchor Man than #1. I served 21 years on Destroyers and Amphibs, making six deployments, a tour as Admissions Officer at Navy, and BUPERS.

After retiring I joined Bureau of Indian Affairs, the Office of the Secretary, Department of the Interior for 10 years. I moved to NASA as Project Manager for 7 years and retired from there in 2008.

I have always been an avid runner and triathlete; competing in 125 marathons, 126 ultra-marathons (including 5 x 100 Mile runs), 130 triathlons (including 5 x IRONMAN distance races). I started a Race Management; Run/Triathlon Coaching business after retiring from NASA.  I retired for the third time in 2022.

I’ve been married to my ‘long suffering wife’ Lynn for  37 years.  We have two children and five grandkids. Lynn and I bought a summer vacation home in Myrtle Beach that we don’t get to often enough.

As one of the five members of Class of 1973 that did the RIDE 2 REMEMBER in memory of classmates that have passed prior to OUR 50th Class Reunion, I am riding in the Gulf to Goat bike adventure to support the CLASS of 1975.
