Mike Donnelly

I am a third generation Naval Officer who entered the Naval Academy from Annandale, VA.  During my time at the academy I ran cross country, track, and rode on the USNA club cycling team.  I graduated with a degree in Naval Architecture and was selected as a Surface Warfare Officer.  After my division officer tour, I attended flight school and spent most of my career flying P-3C Orions and T-34C Turbo Mentors attaining every qualification in both aircraft.  I retired from active duty as a Commander with 21 years of service, 3,400 flight hours, and five deployments.  I remain close to the Navy and the VP community as a Navy spouse supporting my wife’s career while we continue in this phase of our Navy adventure.  We consider Anacortes, WA home.  I enjoy cooking, photography, anything involving the outdoors and keep busy coaching youth sports.  Like my father, I am riding to raise funds and awareness for the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (AFTD).  Hut Linder is one of my father’s USNA roommates and among the role models who inspired my own Navy career.  During the ride I will wear squadron patches he gave me when I was nine years old.  Please consider donating to AFTD through the link provided in this website.
