Jeffrey R Simons
“Jeff”
I reported to the Naval Academy from Peoria, Illinois and Richwoods High School. I played on the football team plebe year and wrestled varsity all four years, serving as team Captain First Class year. The friendships and camaraderie that were forged there have lasted a lifetime. I married Jan (we were high school sweethearts) on August 1, 1975. Jan and I have a daughter, a son, and six grandchildren. I served 5 years as a supply officer in the Marine Corps, frequently away from home competing in wrestling for the Marines, Armed Forces, and USA. After I left the service, I worked at Procter & Gamble for 32 years. During that time, we resided in northern Michigan, southwest Georgia, Mexico City, and Cincinnati.
Since retiring in 2012, Jan and I spend summers on a lake in northern Michigan and winters in the Cincinnati area with our children and grandchildren. I enjoy woodworking, bicycling, traveling and am actively involved with refereeing high school wrestling. I am currently honored to be an assistant wrestling coach at the high school where one of my grandsons competes.
A decade ago, I biked across the US with my West Point friend, Randy Dunlap. Jan was our sag wagon, and it was an epic experience, providing a unique chance to meet great people and see the country at a slower pace. We raised $53,000 for Multiple Sclerosis. The Gulf to Goat Ride presents a valuable opportunity to raise funds for commendable causes while fostering connections among classmates who embody the values of perseverance, service, dedication, resilience, and achievement. I fully endorse the charities we are supporting through this event and encourage donations to further their causes.
